Arsenal have confirmed that their worst fears have been realised as Gabriel Magalhaes has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Brazilian, a strong contender for the Gunners' player of the year, suffered an injury during the 2-1 win against Fulham on Tuesday.

With less than 15 minutes played, Gabriel pulled his hamstring and underwent scans to ascertain the extent of the issue.

In a statement, Arsenal have confirmed the centre-back will need to undergo surgery and won't feature again this season.

It means that Gabriel will now miss the Premier League run-in and BOTH legs of their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

It read: "Further to being substituted during our match against Fulham on Tuesday, we can confirm that Gabriel Magalhaes has sustained a hamstring injury which requires surgery.

"Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season.

"Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible."

Chelsea legend John Terry bit back in spectacular fashion when Jamie O'Hara reminded him of the 2008 League Cup final.

The Blues host Tottenham in a London derby at 8pm on Thursday evening - live and exclusively on talkSPORT.

Chelsea had most of the bragging rights throughout Terry's reign as captain, particularly when it came to silverware.

However, there was one exception - the 2008 League Cup final - which saw Tottenham claim their only trophy of the modern era with victory over Chelsea in the final.

Terry, who won 17 trophies with the Blues, joined talkSPORT's Breakfast Show in March, where he was reminded about that fateful day by ex-Spurs midfielder O'Hara.

O'Hara asked: "Spurs last won a trophy in 2008, beating your mob.

I think it's a thing with modern-day football as well.

"I'm not sure teams are running behind anymore."

Jack Grealish scored his first Premier League goal in almost 16 months, and Gabby Agbonlahor has had his say on a potential summer move.

The former Aston Villa star was left out of Thomas Tuchel's first England squad during the most recent international break.

Discussing Grealish's tricky campaign, talkSPORT host and good friend Gabby Agbonlahor said: "I just know him as a guy who loves football, he was so disappointed to not go to the Euros and miss out on that.

"There's a World Cup next year so he's got to maybe speak to the manager and ask 'what's my future like, am I going to get game time next season?'

"If the answer's no maybe he will look at the right move, is there a club in Europe that suits him?

Where he can go and play his football and he's happy?

"If I'm Jack I'm thinking where am I going to play the most football next season, because Thomas Tuchel will want him in that squad, but if he's not playing enough football he won't get that call."

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on what he has made of the standard of refereeing and VAR in the Premier League: "I think everywhere around the world mistakes are being made.

Let's go on to Sunday."

On Luis Diaz being offside in the build-up for Diogo Jota's goal, he adds: "The rule was executed how it should be, but I don’t like the rule."

Brighton expect goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to stay next season, talkSPORT understands.

Dutch international Verbruggen has been linked with Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old arrived at the Amex from Anderlecht for around £16million in 2023 and has since flourished in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has kept 15 clean sheets during 58 appearances for the Seagulls and has also won 20 caps for the Netherlands.

The PGMOL has acknowledged that Everton defender James Tarkowski should have been shown a red card on Wednesday night, talkSPORT understands.

The Toffees' captain can count himself lucky he wasn't given an early bath in his side's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The England defender left midfielder Alexis Mac Allister in agony over a rash and wild challenge but was only shown a yellow by referee Sam Barrott, which was then upheld by Paul Tierney on VAR.

However, talkSPORT understands the PGMOL has since acknowledged a review should have been recommended as the nature of the follow-through met the threshold for serious foul play.

Arsenal are reportedly fearing the worst as Gabriel Magalhaes could miss BOTH legs of their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

The Brazilian, a strong contender for the Gunners' player of the year, suffered an injury during the 2-1 win against Fulham on Tuesday.

With less than 15 minutes played, Gabriel pulled his hamstring and has since undergone scans to ascertain the extent of the issue.

According to the Mirror, it could see him out for weeks and he is set to miss both legs of the Champions League quarter final with Madrid.

The update falls in line with fears expressed by Gabriel's wife, Gabrielle Figueiredo, over the 27-year-old's injury.

While attending a screening of Amazon Prime Video's Married To The Game season two on Wednesday, Gabrielle was unable to provide reassurance for fans when she opened up on her husband's injury.

She told the Mail: "It's difficult.

I would love to be here with him.

"Yesterday we got the news he got injured, and now he is with the doctor having scans.

"So this is the real life, and we never expected anything like this."

Jack Grealish was full of emotion after ending his goalless run for Manchester City and revealed it was due to a sad anniversary off the pitch.

The England winger scored inside two minutes during a 2-0 win over Leicester, his first goal since January 22 and first in the Premier League since December 2023.

While he was clearly relieved to break the duck, it was actually another date that left him choked up post-match.

Grealish was four years old when his younger brother Keelan died in April 2000 - aged just nine months due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

“It was a nice day, my little brother passed away 25 years ago today,” the former Aston Villa captain said as his voice broke.

“This day it’s always like… I don’t know, it’s hard on the family but I was happy to score.

“My mum and dad were here, I think this day is always difficult on the family so to score and win was brilliant.”

Grealish later paid a tribute on Instagram, writing: "With me always especially this day ...

On top of that, the Foxes are now without a clean sheet in their last 23 Premier League games this season.

That's the longest run without a shutout in a single top-flight campaign since a run of 30 for Wolves in 2011-12.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is also now the first manager to lead the same team on two separate seven game losing runs in a top-flight season since Freddie Cox in 1958-59 with Portsmouth.
